Steven Gasztowicz KC

Chairman
Steven Gasztowicz KC was called to the Bar in 1981 and took silk in 2009. He is a member of Cornerstone Barristers in London, practising mainly in land and property law, administrative matters, and commercial law. He is also a door tenant on the Midland Circuit. He has been a recorder since 2009, dealing with crime, general civil work, and specialist chancery matters. He also sits as a Deputy High Court Judge in both the King's Bench and Chancery Divisions

Catherine Clarke

Member
Catherine was admitted as a solicitor in 1996 prior to which she qualified as a chartered civil engineer. She was appointed a Deputy District Judge (Civil) in March 2020, and currently sits in the South East region undertaking both Covil work and Financial Remedies Court work. She is a solicitor in a city law firm.

Peter Causton

Treasurer
Peter is a Civil and Commercial Mediator and Deputy District Judge as well as being a barrister and former member of the Law Society Council. He is the first person in England and Wales to have held two practising certificates concurrently.

Timothy Gascoyne

Member
Timothy was admitted as a solicitor in 1983 and has been a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates Court) since 1999. Possibly uniquely DDJ’s are not appointed to a circuit. Currently he mainly sits in London and Midlands but previously has enjoyed sitting as far afield as Cardiff and Teeside. He presided over the Alton Towers noise abatement case and DPP v Jones which clarified the law with regard to road traffic law speed signage. Having been a sole practitioner for twenty years dealing exclusively with Crime he is now a consultant, still defending in Magistrates Courts and Police stations. He attained Higher Rights earlier this year and is taking his first steps in Crown Court advocacy. In his spare time he volunteer stewards at music festivals helping raise money for charity.
